Meet Our Pastor...
Pastor Robert Leon Pearson was born October 27, 1971 to Floretta and the late Minister L.A. Pearson. Robert grew up in a small town in South Central Kentucky by the name of Smiths Grove, population 700. As a young boy, Robert grew up helping his dad work on the farm. He would haul hay, strip tobacco, chop wood, and whatever else you can think of when it came to farm work. Pastor Pearson attended the Warren East High School in Bowling Green, KY, where he graduated in 1989. His hobbies were choir, football, and track. After high school Robert attended Western Kentucky University for a period of two years. Pastor Pearson accepted Jesus the Christ as his Savior at the young age of 9. He was at the New Salem Baptist Church in Bowling Green, KY where his father was the evangelist of the revival. Ten years later at the tender age of 19, Robert accepted his call from GOD into the gospel ministry. His first sermon was October 19, 1991 at the Icy Sink Baptist Church in Smiths Grove, KY. At the age of 21, Robert became the Senior Pastor of the Icy Sink Missionary Baptist Church on April 4, 1993. In May of 1993 Robert attended the Great Commission Bible College and Theological Seminary. While studying there, a Bachelor’s in Biblical Studies, a Masters’ in Divinity, and a Doctorate in Theology was obtained.
On April 23, 2009, Rev. Dr. Robert L. Pearson was unanimously elected to serve as pastor of Jackson Street Missionary Baptist Church. He was officially welcomed to his new position on Sunday, June 7, 2009. His preference is Pastor Pearson, rather than Reverend or Doctor. Pastor Pearson is married to Michelle Louise Hayden and they have four children together; Xavier, Charmisha, Aaliyah, and Nakia. They have also been blessed with two grandchildren.
